Summer Cool Down
It’s finally cooling down in Georgia! Yay! I can’t wait to wear jeans again!
I’ve been keeping myself very busy with my personal training/nutrition clients and will be posting a bunch of new recipes throughout the week! I’ve been working one more family-friendly/weeknight dishes that are tasty and healthy knock-offs of what are traditionally unhealthy dishes. I’d love to see parents serve these meals to their kids because I bet they won’t know the difference! Teaching kids to appreciate healthy foods is so important because how they eat now will impact their health and eating habits for the rest of their lives! Try serving up my Low Fat & High Fiber Chicken Nuggets instead of stopping by McDonalds!
I’ve also been working hard on refining my metabolic workouts. These are workouts I do with my overweight clients that are geared at boosting and repairing their metabolism and they REALLY work! Lately I’ve been adding more and more plyometric exercise to these workouts. If you’ve never heard of plyometrics before, they are basically exercise moves that quickly stretch targeted muscles and then contract them quickly. They are traditionally used by athletes to increase their power and can give them a competitive edge in sports, but they are fantastic for boosting metabolism as well. I find them to be most effective for weight loss when used in large circuits consisting of a lot of explosive movements with little to no rest between stations!
I’ve been having the hardest time falling asleep at night because my head won’t shut off! I start thinking about new exercise moves and recipes and things I want to try and I end up having to get out of bed and make notes before I can fall asleep. I’ve started keeping a pad and pen by my bed and that helps. That’s the only problem with exercise and nutrition: there is always something new to try!
