Toned Muscles

In addition to lifting to total failure, you should also progressively add more weight to your weight training moves. Adding weight results in tighter, better toned muscles. Your muscles will let you know when they can take more weight. You’ll notice that you are doing more and more reps before reaching total failure and that will be an indicator that you can increase your load. As soon as your current weight load becomes easy, add more weight.

The human body is dynamic. It will ebb and flow and sometimes you will need to adjust your weight load often and other times you’ll stay at one weight load for quite a while. Don’t have any expectations about what you will experience when you approach weight training, just listen to your body and continue to push yourself. Don’t be afraid to try and lift heavier weight than you’re used to, you may be surprised at just how strong you are if you step outside of your comfort zone!
